Официальная страничка группы

Israel rarely gives a birth to anything worthy in terms of progressive music but now witness a new entity, ARTLAND, the band consisting of the guys hailing from former USSR. Maybe it's their struggle for inner freedom that determines ARTLAND's approach to instrumental epics. "Vote Of Heaven" comes based on folky motifs with synthesizers delivered flute and bagpipe and liquid jazzy guitar interspersing polyrhythmic structures. Seems, there's no sense in the titles as they strike noaccord with the music. There's an interesting difference in guitar playing with one of the guitarist overtly showing his love for metal while the second flies around his riffs - two versions of "Real Peace" is an illustration. In this piece bass goes dancing around keyboard solo in the Moog mode. Something remindful of Steve Hackett appears in another Celtic-tinged track, "It Will Be Still Good", that sounds as if came from "Till We Have Faces" with irksome unimaginative drumming. "Travel To Life" is the most atmosperic and spaced out of the whole collection and could be categorized as ambient or new age. Synth rain with an acoustic guitars strain and a good dose of funk to enliven a picture. "Something Lyrical" is such, indeed, yet unfocused a bit and may resemble the Steve Howe collaboration with Paul Sutin. "Between The Sky And Earth" proves a mature work overall and while the band consider it a demo it's frightening what they will come up with for real album.

The Beauty of progressive music is that it has no geographical and no philosophical or intellectual boundaries. Now the genre expands itself into Israel and gives birth to Artland. The group formed out of the ashes that were once the USSR. This is an instrumental album that fuses progressive rock and ambient and electronic music. The music beckons to create it's own category. This music is similar to Kerry Livgren solo projects and early Yanni. Other noted comparisons are Jan Hammer and Tangerine Dream. Patrick Losinsky, Alex Tantsiurah, Sergey Nikolaev & Sandy Bagnov are Artland. They are a very tight and polished group. The musical compositions are layered and somewhat technical. This is a classy and recorded CD. Patrick Losinsky and Alex Tantsiurah composed all the music. The album was produced and recorded & mixed by Patrick Losinsky and Artland. The group did everything. This album sounds as if they have been doing this for quite some time, which for a freshman effort, we give it high praise. It also speaks well for a small studio recording. It shows you that if you want to do something bad enough you can do it. This also shows you how far a small studio recording has come these day's.  This is an album we think you will find enjoyable and relaxing especially for people who need to chill and take a brake. For us we love to go outside on our deck and tip back some cold one's and listens to Artland. This music just simply relaxes you and takes you somewhere else. If you’re looking to be mentally challenged, look elsewhere. The Prog4You gives this Album based on its originality and merit 7 out of ten keyboards.

Those guys called their band ATLAND and the name proves itself. I haven’t expected that an Israeli band, which plays “progressive” will go all the way and release the album (which is not a common thing for this country). Before I took a listen, I though that I’m about to deal with some crappy local band, but those guys proved me wrong (usually I’m always right). They recorded a very impressive album, which is easy to listen to and it’s composed and produced pretty well.

There are four people in the band: Alex – keyboards, Sandy – bass, Sergey – guitars and Patrick who pays guitars and takes the responsibility for their drum machine. Although they don’t have a real drummer, the machine sounds really good. I’m wondering how they will sound like with the real human drummer.

I can’t also complaint about production, although I would take better care for the sound of the rhythm guitar (as a sound engineer, I’m too sensitive for those things).

The dominant style of ARTLAND is a mixture of progressive and fusion rock, which sounds like a mixture of Dream Theatre with Uzeb and Liquid Tension. The album contains 6 good, melodic tracks with some different grooves and some drum & bass parts. It would be very interesting to see them playing live all this stuff.

ARTLAND just pulled out a good sounding progressive album (which is not an easy work to do), so way to go guys! Success is on the way and they really deserve it!
